Friends Of Bents Green
Friends of Bents Green is a registered charity (Charity Number 1092143) which provides additional support to the school to ensure it can deliver a broad range of services and support to pupils and their families. This may range from specialist equipment or technology to aid communication, an adventure playground, supporting the first Bents Green Leavers Prom organising and funding family fun days.
One of our main areas for development over the next few months is parent and family support with workshops to promote health, wellbeing and general coping strategies.
All parents/carers and wider family are automatically members and we welcome anyone in the local area who would like to support our school. We also meet together as a group in school on a monthly basis for a chat and get together, this is a chance for parents to get to know and support each other.

Unwanted Christmas Gift Sets and Toiletries
We would be very grateful if parents/carers could send in any unwanted Christmas gift-sets / perfumes / good quality toiletries which could be used to make up raffle prizes. Please hand in to reception. Thank you.
Fundraising for 2015/2016
Friends of Bents Green have raised nearly £2,000. We helped to raise funds for students so that they could take part in canoeing, the Bike-It project and obtained Autism Awareness Cards.
Fun Day & BBQ
We raised £425.85 (excludes raffle money) on our Fun Day event which was held on 8/7/16. Many thanks to everyone was came and supported us on the day. We had great fun organising this event; there was a variety of stalls to entertainment staff, parents and students and to make the afternoon perfect the sun came out!
Fundraising for 2016/2017
During 2016/2017 we were raising funds for sensory equipment. We had already helped to purchase some items and our aim was to raise £1,000 to provide more sensory equipment. As of February 2017 new total now stands at £1000 which means we have achieved our target amount! Thank you to everyone who supported the following events to enable us to raise this amount: Westfield School Christmas Fayre, BG Fashion Show, Christmas raffle and Enterprise Day. A BIG THANK YOU to Henry Boot Construction for donating £100 and Meadowhall who kindly donated a £10 voucher.
Kate Bradshaw, Chair of FOBG would personally like to thank all the committee members for all their hard work and dedication and also thank our parents/carers, family and friends for their continued support.
Fashion Show – 13 June 2017
Thank you to everyone who supported this event. We had another successful evening; there were lots of bargains and everyone had the opportunity to go home with a new addition to their wardrobe! The total amount raised was £363.
Putting it simply; by getting involved in your child’s school, you are getting involved in one of the most important parts of their life. It keeps you connected to the school, helps you know what is going on, and is a fantastic way to really get to know the staff and other parents.
As the schools budgets are tightened even further it’s so important that we all help to ensure that our children do not miss out. Fund raising means that the children can still benefit from things like new sports equipment supporting the Bike It Project in school or contributing to the funding of the Ethel Barge trips which our pupils really enjoy and all those extras that the schools own budget is just not able to afford.
There is no pressure to get involved in the fundraising, you can help a little, or help a lot, it’s entirely up to you, every little really does help. So whether you end up volunteering to organise the whole raffle or just to fold the tickets, shop for supplies, collect raffle prizes, cook, write a quiz, decorate the hall, run the bar or even figure out how the gazebo goes up; it is all valuable stuff and your help will genuinely be appreciated.
Finally, the whole thing can be a great laugh, sometimes challenging, often exciting, and okay, sometimes a bit stressful, but always satisfying and definitely rewarding.

“I am Sue Roe secretary of the fund raising group, my husband and I joined the group when our 2 youngest sons came through the school from Y7 through to Post 16. With the hard work and the support of the staff and the progress they made we wanted to give something back by helping to raise funds for the extra equipment and treats to benefit all the young people who attend the school.”
