Post-16 Curriculum
Our Post-16 students follow a Preparation for Adulthood framework, which provides real-world learning opportunities to prepare them for a meaningful, happy and safe life beyond school.
The four strands for Preparation for Adulthood are:
- Employment
- Independent Living
- Community Inclusion
- Health
We recognise that all our students in Post-16 require a practical and enriched curriculum that supports them in being visible members of the community. We recognise that the students arriving at Post-16 require us to build upon the experiences and qualifications they have already achieved whilst tailoring opportunities for them to build their independence, life and living skills and to experience and enter the world of work.
Our Post-16 curriculum follows a core academic curriculum with 2 distinct pathways implemented for developing their Preparation For Adulthood as illustrated below.
Pathway 1 - Core Curriculum
It is important to us as a school that our Post-16 students have a solid foundation of functional literacy and numeracy skills in which to progress into adult life. Our core curriculum achieves this by providing students access to:

- Functional Skills English at Entry Level 1-3, Level 1 or Level 2
